This project is proposed by the 'Voies Navigables de France' (Voies Navigables de France)
Problem: There exists in France at present 147 manually operated dams (dams needles, laths, to increases and vannette) managed by VNF. However operational difficulties of these works are expected in future years.
From a strictly technical view, the systematic replacement of dams operated by manual and automated mechanized dams would be a satisfactory solution but the issue is very heavy economic and financial difficulties likely.
Tasks: The task of the ULG is to propose rational solutions, reliable and economic aspects that include innovation and standardization. The proposal is to develop a concept of dams 'shelf' to facilitate the work of divisions and subdivisions VNF when developing their project. This should result in lower costs and improve reliability. The areas that we study are:
- The definition of categories of dams
- The use and adaptation of bouchures not widespread in France (air valves, Obermeyer, prefabrication, ...)
- The standardization of technologies (economies of scale)
- Cofferdams maintenance and emergency
